What Is Calendula?
Calendula officinalis is also known as pot marigold. It is a very common flowering plant found in many backyards. Its bright yellow flowers and pleasant herbal aroma make calendula a popular plant in many home gardens. It's a perennial plant so it comes back year after year which is one of the reasons I love having it in my garden as well.
The oils extracted from Calendula flowers are commonly used for their numerous benefits for skin problems. It is also safe for sensitive skin.
Top Benefits of Calendula
One of the main reasons we use calendula in our salve is because of its well-known benefits to help reduce irritation. Calendula has anti-inflammatory properties and it limits water loss from the damaged epidermis layer of the skin. (TEWL-Transepidermal Water Loss). This helps the skin to be able to fight off potential irritants. It is also known to help soothe skin conditions.
Calendula has a high concentration of linoleic and calendric acid. Studies have shown that using skincare products that contain linoleic acid—like our Herbal Green Salve may help promote a more hydrated, healthy skin moisture barrier as well as help the skin turnover quickly resulting in new healthy skin cells.
How many times has this happened to you? You go to grab a bottle of lotion off the shelf at our local store. You turn the bottle around to read the ingredients and you see….
DO NOT INGEST
Understandably, most of us would not even attempt to ingest such products. But what if what you put on your skin actually was ingested? Directly through your skin. What we do know is that our skin is our largest organ. In fact, we have roughly 22 square feet of it! We also know through studies that approximately 65% of what goes on our skin actually enters our blood stream.
Now, think about all the products that we come I contact with. Everything from the make-up we put on our faces every day, the soap we use to wash dishes, soap we use to wash our clothes (most detergents leave a residue that comes in contact with our skin all day every day), lotions, perfumes.
So many. Every day.
Have you ever thought about how a pain patch works? What about birth control patches? The medicine is placed externally and absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream. These manufacturers understand this concept of what goes on our skin, goes into our bodies. They wouldn’t continue to sell products like this if they didn’t work.
It is always a good idea to read the ingredients that go ON your body. Opt for things that you wouldn’t mind putting IN your body. Simple, clean, organic ingredients.
You are worth it! You shouldn’t have to deal with toxic chemicals running through your body especially when you are unaware that they are even there.
There are so many other environmental toxins that are completely out of our control. Chemicals that are coming from the materials in our homes, the air we breathe.
There are things that ARE in our control and those are the things we purchase and put on our bodies.
Now that you know that 65% of what you put on your skin actually enters your blood stream, would you think twice about the products you choose? I know I do.
That was one of the biggest reasons why SUNRAYS Naturals was born.
Its fire ant season over here at our house again. I have tried so hard over the years to get rid of them from our property but every year they seem to keep coming back. Ugh!!!
For a lot of people, red ants are not a big deal. However, over here at our house, I have a few kids that have a real hard time remembering to put on their shoes before they run all over the yard.
Inevitably, I will hear one of kids crying as they run towards to the house looking for relief from a fire ant bite, which I know from experience is extremely painful.
Usually by the sound of the cry, I instinctively know what has just happened. I will run and grab a few things that I know are going to make them feel better before they come through the door.
The first thing I use is straight lavender directly on the affected area. Lavender is one of those essential oils that are just fine to use straight out of the bottle. Most oils you cannot do this with but lavender is one that you can. It has soothing properties and also pain-relieving properties which is why it’s the first oil I think of when I have a crying child in pain sitting in front of me.
After that I grab our green salve which is loaded with healing herbs and essential oils that helps with the pain. In fact, it’s the one thing my kids specifically ask me to grab when they are hurt or get a scrape. “Get the green salve” is a common phrase in our house.
The last thing I grab is a homeopathic medicine designed specifically for bug bites and stings that I can give orally to help with pain. In fact, in writing this I had to reorder since I didn’t have any this morning when little Rachel got bit by the first red ant of the season.
Something else you can do is get a cold compress and place where the bite was. I feel like this helps to distract and quiet the burning for the other things to start working.
If all that doesn’t work you can also try apple cider vinegar as the acid composition counteracts the venom.
Summer season if full of outdoor fun but around here it is also filled with fire ants. As long as I am prepared with all the items above (and maybe if my kids can remember to wear shoes) we are going to have a great summer!
So, what day of Quarantine are we even in? I actually had to ask that question at dinner yesterday. It sure seems like it has been a long time. Although, I CAN see the light at the end of the tunnel!
With hope that our country will open back up soon, I know that there will be several things that we will still need to keep in place.
One for sure is going to be continuing to frequently wash our hands.
With all this washing of our hands and using hand sanitizer I know many of you are experiencing similar things like… tight, dry or even cracked hands.
Have you checked the ingredients in the lotions you use? More than likely the very first ingredient is water.
Have you ever noticed with water-based lotion that you need to apply frequently to feel hydrated?
There is science to this! Water actually attracts water which means it could actually remove moisture from your skin causing it to feel tight and dry.
Going waterless is KEY!
Nourish your skin with our Bella Lotion Bars!
If you have never tried a hard lotion bar, you are in for a treat. It is an entirely different way of applying lotion that you have ever used before.
After you wash your hands, simply rub the Bella Bar over your skin and the warmth will melt just enough. This is also the reason I like to keep a large Bella bar by my shower so that while my skin is still warm, I can apply it all over!
Besides that, our Bella Bars are a humectant which means that it actually attracts moisture to your skin and also creates a barrier!
It doesn’t stop at just your hands either. I have used them especially for my cuticles that get very dry, elbows that crack, and dry heels. So many uses and you will see amazing transformation in your skin.
Now I keep mentioning our Bella bar, but all that also goes for our After Battle Bar as well! The scent on these bars is amazing!
Praying that you and your family are staying safe!
6. Different than Anything You Have Tried
A Bella Bar is not your typical lotion. In fact, it is quite different.
It is lotion but in solid bar form. Much like that of a bar of soap.
Simply rub the lotion bar between your hands and the warmth from your body will soften just enough lotion. Put the bar down and continue to rub the lotion in. Within a few minutes your skin will absorb the oils and you will be left with silky smooth hands. Or simply rub directly wherever you need lotion. Super easy and effective!
5. Easy to Use
A Bella Lotion Bar is so easy to use. You simply rub the bar wherever you need lotion to go. Hands, cuticles, legs, elbows. Simply rub and enjoy! The lotion takes a few minutes for your skin to absorb the oils and in no time at all you will be enjoying your silky smooth skin for hours to come.
Traveling with a Bella Bar is very easy as well as you dont need to worry about liquids as you travel throught he airport.
Just be careful not to leave your Bella Bar in the hot car as the oils can melt.
4. Hels Dry, Cracked Feet
Dry, cracked feet is something many people suffer from and can be very painful when cracks appear. One of the fastest ways to heal your feet is to apply the lotion bar directly to your feet and put on socks before you go to bed. This will help to hold the moisture in. You will be very surprised the next morning what just one night with our Bella Bar on your feet will do.
3. Heals Extreme Dry Skin
Our Bella Bar gets to work fast on extreme dry skin. With the natural antimicrobial and antibacterial properties of coconut oil, even the driest skin doesn't stand a chance.
2. Feel Hydrated Longer
There are 3 key ingredients in our Bella Bars. They are organic coconut oil, organic shea butter and beeswax. These 3 oils work together in an amazing way to give you the silkiest, smoothest skin you have ever felt. The beeswax then seals in all the goodness creating a barrier against the elements.
1. All Natural
There are three main ingredients that make up a lotion bar- Coconut oil, shea butter and beeswax. The combination of coconut oil and shea butter give the lotion its super silky feel and the perfect combination to hydrate your skin. The beeswax is what gives the lotion bar its solid form and also helps to seal the moisture in.
We use all natural ingredients in our Bella Lotion Bar. Nothing synthetic!
This is a very important consideration when putting products on your skin. Your skin is your largest organ and everything that you put on your skin makes it way into your body and into your blood stream.
Dont believe me?
Think about how a nicotine patch works or even a pain patch. The medicine enters the skin and within a few short minutes it has entered your blood stream and is getting to work. This is also true with the products we put on our skin.
It is very important to use only all natural ingredients on your skin
You will not even believe how silky smooth a Bella Bar will leave your skin until you try one.
If you haven't tried a Bella Bar yet, I would encourage you to try one today! Visit us at www.sunraysranch.com
